Outlook Express E-Mail Instructions

To setup Microsoft Outlook Express 6 to send and receive e-mail please follow the tutorial below. You can click on the screen shot thumb nails to see a full size picture illustrating each step. Note: The example below uses the domain signalpoint.net , be sure to replace signalpoint.net with your domain name.


  1. Open Outlook Express
  2. Click 'Tools'
  3. Click 'Accounts'
  4. Click the 'Mail' Tab
  5. Click the 'Add' button
  6. Select 'Mail'
  7. Enter your display name: e.g. John Doe
  8. Click 'Next'
  9. Enter your full e-mail address: e.g. john@signalpoint.net
  10. Click 'Next'
  11. Select 'POP3' from the 'My incoming mail server is a' drop down menu
  12. Enter incoming mail POP3 server: e.g. mail.signalpoint.net
  13. Enter outgoing mail SMTP server: e.g. mail.signalpoint.net
  14. Click 'Next'
  15. Enter your full e-mail address for 'account name': e.g. john@signalpoint.net
  16. Enter your password
  17. Optional: Check the box next to 'Remember Password'
  18. Click 'Next'
  19. Click 'Finish', you should now see your new account listed under the 'Mail' tab
  20. Click on the mail account you just created to highlight it, then click the 'Properties' button (note: you may have more than one account listed here if there were accounts created in the past)
  21. Enter your full e-mail address in the 'Mail Account' text box (note: you can enter any name you like here, entering the e-mail address is a very easy way to mark this account)
  22. Optional: Click the 'Advanced' tab
  23. Optional: Check the box next to 'Leave a copy of messages on server'
  24. Optional: Check the box next to 'Remove from server when deleted from 'Deleted Items''
  25. Click 'OK'
  26. Click 'Close'
